Numerical Techniques for Studying Repetitively Pulsed Reactor Time-Dependent Behavior
نویسنده
چکیده
Computationally efficient numerical techniques are developed for studying the time-dependent behavior of repetitively pulsed reactors. Reactivity perturbations synchronous with the external pulse are also considered. Three types of reactivity are considered: step change, sinusoidal, and thermal feedback. Noniterative techniques, based upon Laplace transforms and residues, are used to solve the first two types, and continuous analytic continuation is used to solve the third.

Species and temperature measurements of methane oxidation in a nanosecond repetitively pulsed discharge.
Speciation and temperature measurements of methane oxidation during a nanosecond repetitively pulsed discharge in a low-temperature flow reactor have been performed. Measurements of temperature and formaldehyde during a burst of pulses were made on a time-dependent basis using tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, and measurements of all other major stable species were made downstream of...
متن کاملExplosion Model Applied to an Intense Pulsed Plasma Source for Thin Film Deposition - Plasma Science, IEEE Transactions on
A pulsed plasma source for deposition of thin polymer films was modeled numerically with the one-dimensional (1-D) time dependent fluid transport equations describing an explosion for an ideal gas. Initial number density, explosion temperature, and velocity were made consistent with values in an experimental reactor. These quantities as well as pressure and fluence were modeled for a distance o...
متن کاملStudying Transition Behavior of Neutron Point Kinetics Equations Using the Lyapunov Exponent Method
The neutron density is one of the most important dynamical parameters in a reactor. It is directly related to the control and stability of the reactor power. Any change in applied reactivity and some of dynamical parameters in the reactor causes a change in the neutron density. Lyapunov exponent method is a powerful tool for investigating the range of stability and the transient behavior of the...
متن کاملCompensator Control For Chemical Vapor Deposition Film Growth Using Reduced Order Design Models
We present a summary of investigations on the use of proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) techniques as a reduced basis method for computation of feedback controls and compensators in a high pressure chemical vapor deposition (HPCVD) reactor that includes multiple species and controls, gas phase reactions, and time dependent tracking signals that are consistent with pulsed vapor reactant input...
متن کاملProduction and Behavior of Point Defects in Pulsed Inertial Confinement Fusion Reactors
A time-dependent neutronics analysis for the HIBALL reactor is presented. The helium to dpa ratio in the ferritic steel structure is found to be sensitive to neutron spectrum softening. The microstructure calculations show that helium diffusivity is a sensitive function of vacancy accumulation from one pulse to the next. A strong coupling exists between the three components of damage: helium, v...
